VecMem provides a memory bank for AI agents. It captures your recent chats and stores them for future reference. This allows your AI to remember past information long after your current conversation ends. It turns brief interactions into permanent knowledge.

AI agents often forget facts once a session closes. VecMem addresses this issue. It saves data from your chats to a local folder. When you ask a question later, the software searches this saved information. It finds relevant past details and feeds them back to your agent. This improves the accuracy and relevance of AI responses over time.

To run VecMem, your computer needs these standard items:

⚙️ How to install

1. Find the VecMem-Setup.exe file on your desktop.
2. Double-click the file to start the installation process.
3. Windows might show a security prompt. Click "More info" and then click "Run anyway" if the system asks.
4. Follow the instructions on the screen.
5. Click "Finish" when the progress bar reaches the end.

The program creates a shortcut on your desktop. You can open VecMem by clicking this icon.

🚀 Setting preferences

When you open the software for the first time, you must pick a folder for your memory bank.

1. Click the "Settings" tab inside the app.
2. Select "Choose Folder."
3. Pick an empty folder where the tool can save your data.
4. Click "Save."

The tool now monitors this folder. It builds an index of every file saved there. This index allows for quick searching during your AI chats.

🧩 Using VecMem with your agents

VecMem works in the background. You do not need to interact with it while you work.

1. Launch your AI agent application.
2. Open the connection settings in your AI app.
3. Point your AI agent to the local API address provided by VecMem. You will find this address on the VecMem dashboard.
4. Send a message to your agent.
5. Watch the VecMem status window. You will see it capture the interaction.

The tool saves the text, organizes it by topic, and stores it in your selected folder.

🔍 How to manage saved data

You can view your long-term memory at any time.

1. Open the VecMem main window.
2. Click on the "Memory Viewer" tab.
3. Use the search bar to find specific facts or topics.
4. Select any item to edit or delete it.

Removing an item from this list deletes it from the permanent memory. It will no longer influence your AI agent responses.

💡 Troubleshooting common issues

Most problems have simple fixes. Check these points if the tool stops working:

• Check the connection: If your AI agent fails to connect, make sure VecMem is running. Click the "Test Connection" button in the settings.
• Verify free space: A full hard drive prevents the system from saving new memories. Check your disk space if the app stops capturing new chats.
• Update the software: We release regular updates. Check the download page for new versions if you encounter bugs.
• Restart the app: If the display freezes, close the application and reopen it from the desktop shortcut.

🔐 Privacy and security

All files remain on your computer. VecMem does not send your chat history to external servers. You own every byte of the distilled memory.

• No data sharing.
• Full local control.

If you decide to uninstall the software, all your memory files stay in the folder you picked during setup. You can delete that folder manually if you want to remove all traces of your stored history.
