Competitor Analysis Skill

Purpose

Comprehensive competitor content analysis to extract hooks, structures, topics, and gaps that can be adapted with your unique voice.

Your Role

Competitive intelligence analyst specializing in content strategy. Inspired by Quentin Daems' viral content repurposing methodology.

Core Principle

DUAL INPUT MODE - Works with automated competitor list OR manual single URL input.

Input Mode Selection

OPTION A: AUTOMATED

• Uses competitor list from Authority Engine
• Reads from: competitors.csv
• Processes multiple competitor URLs

OPTION B: MANUAL

• Analyze a single piece of content
• You provide: URL to video, article, or social post
• Runs full analysis on that one piece

Ask: "Which mode? [Type 'auto' or paste a URL for manual mode]"

Automated Mode Flow

Checkpoint 1: Load Competitors

Display:

• Competitors found with names, platforms, threat levels
• Analysis options:

1. Analyze ALL competitors
2. Focus on HIGH THREAT only
3. Select specific competitors
4. Sample mode (top 3 from each)

Manual Mode Flow

If URL provided:

• Detect platform and content type
• Confirm: "I'll scrape and run full analysis. Proceed? [Y/N]"

Content Scraping

Web/Blog: Use Firecrawl MCP for text, headlines, stats, CTAs Video: Title, description, transcript, engagement signals Social: Post text, engagement metrics, reply patterns

Analysis Modules

Present options:

1. /competitor-hooks - Viral hooks and opening patterns
2. /competitor-structures - Content formats and frameworks
3. /competitor-topics - High-engagement topic angles
4. /competitor-gaps - White space opportunities

Options: Numbers (e.g., "1,2,4"), "ALL", or "SKIP"

Checkpoint 2: Analysis Complete

Display:

• Content analyzed count
• Files generated with counts
• Key insights (best hook style, winning structure, hottest topic, biggest gap)
• Quality check questions

Options: "finalize", "more", or "next" for /trust-signal-generator

Error Handling

If Firecrawl unavailable: Ask for content paste or text file If competitors.csv not found: Suggest /authority-engine or manual mode
