About
TikTok Ad Creative Brief Generator
Platform: TikTok Ads Category: creative Tier: pro
Purpose
Generate a complete, production-ready TikTok ad creative brief that gives creators, editors, and UGC talent everything they need to produce scroll-stopping, native-feel video ads — without back-and-forth revisions or vague direction. Each brief output is designed to produce a TikTok-specific creative that looks, feels, and converts like organic content while delivering a paid performance outcome.
When to Use
- Briefing UGC creators, in-house videographers, or freelance editors on a new TikTok ad concept
- Iterating on an existing creative and need to brief the variation with precise structural changes
- Testing a new hook angle, offer framing, or creative format and need to systematize the test spec
- Running a multi-creative test batch and need consistent brief quality across all concepts
- Onboarding a new creative team member or agency partner to your TikTok creative standards
Inputs Required
- Product or service name and one-sentence description
- Core offer being advertised (what the viewer gets, at what price or commitment, with what guarantee or urgency element)
- Target audience: demographics, psychographics, awareness level (Problem Aware / Solution Aware / Product Aware)
- Key pain point or desire the creative should activate
- Hook angle or concept direction (if operator has a hypothesis) — optional, will be generated if not provided
- Creative format preference: UGC talking head, POV, reaction, before/after, product demo, text-overlay voiceover, day-in-the-life, testimonial-style
- CTA: what action should the viewer take? (Swipe up, click link in bio, shop now, get free trial)
- Creative length target: 9s, 15s, 21s, 30s, or 45s
- Any mandatory inclusions or exclusions (claims, product features, compliance requirements)
What This Skill Does
This skill generates a complete TikTok ad creative brief including: hook options, scene-by-scene structure, script direction (non-verbatim, bullet-point style), visual direction, caption overlay direction, audio mood, CTA language, and technical delivery specs. The brief is format-optimized for TikTok's native aesthetic, platform algorithm behavior, and conversion funnel stage.
Analysis Workflow
- Map the offer to the awareness stage. Cold traffic (Problem Aware) needs a brief that leads with the pain, then reveals the solution. Warm traffic (Product Aware) can lead with the offer directly. Adjust brief structure accordingly.
- Generate 3 distinct hook options for the creative:
- Hook 1: Pain-led open loop ("If you're still [problem], you haven't heard about this.")
- Hook 2: Bold claim / result-first ("I went from [before state] to [after state] in [timeframe] using this.")
- Hook 3: Curiosity / pattern interrupt ("The reason [common belief] is completely wrong.")
Tailor each hook to the stated target audience and platform-native language.
- Build the scene-by-scene structure. For each time block in the creative length, specify: what is on screen, what the creator is saying (direction, not verbatim script), and what caption overlay appears.
- 0–3s: Hook delivery — specify exact visual setup, creator positioning, or visual shock element
- 3–8s: Problem amplification or credibility establishment
- 8–18s: Offer/solution reveal and key benefit delivery
- 18–end: CTA and urgency driver
- Write the tone direction: conversational register, energy level (high-energy urgent / calm authoritative / empathetic peer), and any creator style notes (imperfect delivery OK, genuine reaction preferred, etc.).
- Specify visual requirements: product on-screen timing, before/after if applicable, B-roll needs, prop requirements, aspect ratio (9:16), framing (center-frame talking head vs. POV action shot).
- Write caption overlay brief: font style direction (bold, high contrast), key phrases to highlight, timing cues for text appearance.
- Specify audio direction: original creator voice (no background music during speech) or voiceover + TikTok-licensed commercial track (specify mood: upbeat, emotional, neutral).
- Write the CTA section: exact CTA phrase, on-screen CTA overlay text, and whether a CTA screen (static end card) is needed.
- Finalize delivery specs: file format (MP4), resolution (1080×1920), duration, naming convention, and Spark Ad authorization note if applicable.
Output Requirements
- Complete creative brief document with all sections populated
- 3 hook options (labeled Hook A, B, C with mechanic type tagged)
- Scene-by-scene structure table: timecode, on-screen action, creator direction, caption overlay
- Tone and energy direction paragraph
- Visual, audio, and technical specs section
- CTA section with exact copy
- Review checklist: 10-point pre-submission quality check for the creator/editor to self-verify before delivery
Platform-Specific Best Practices
- TikTok ad creative briefs should never include a full word-for-word script for UGC creators. Scripted delivery reads as inauthentic and tanks the native-feel advantage. Provide bullet points, key phrases, and outcome direction.
- The first frame of the creative should be briefed as specifically as the hook line — visual curiosity in frame 1 is as important as the verbal hook in driving thumbstop.
- Brief for "raw authentic" quality, not production perfection. A slightly imperfect, genuine delivery in natural lighting outperforms a studio-polished video for TikTok cold traffic.
- Always brief at least 2 hook variations per creative concept. Having 2 distinct hooks from the same creator in the same session costs almost nothing and doubles your test coverage.
- Humor, self-deprecation, and vulnerability are high-performing creative energies on TikTok. Brief creators with permission to be imperfect, funny, or genuinely opinionated.
Guardrails
- Do not write a full script in the creative brief — provide structural direction and key talking points only.
- Do not brief a creative without a clearly stated conversion goal — "awareness" is not an acceptable outcome for a paid creative brief.
- Do not specify only one hook option — minimum 2, ideally 3, so the creator and buyer have test variants without additional production.
- Never skip the technical delivery specs section — wrong aspect ratio, resolution, or file format creates costly delays.
Example Requests
- "Write a complete TikTok creative brief for a 30-second UGC talking head ad for a $49 online fitness program targeting women 25–40 who want to lose weight without going to a gym."
- "I need a brief for a product demo TikTok ad for a kitchen gadget. The hook angle should be 'I used to hate meal prep until I found this.' Make it feel like organic content, not an ad."
- "Give me a creative brief for 3 different hook variations of the same 15-second TikTok ad for a free consultation offer from a home services company. Target: homeowners 35–55."
