NeMo Guardrails - Programmable Safety for LLMs

Quick start

NeMo Guardrails adds programmable safety rails to LLM applications at runtime.

Installation:

pip install nemoguardrails

Basic example (input validation):

Issue: High latency from multiple checks

Parallelize checks:

Issue: Hallucination detection misses errors

  • Recommended: NVIDIA T4 or better
  • VRAM: 4-8GB (for LlamaGuard integration)
  • CPU: 4+ cores
  • RAM: 8GB minimum

Latency:

  • Pattern matching: <1ms
  • LLM-based checks: 50-200ms
  • LlamaGuard: 100-300ms (T4)
  • Total overhead: 100-500ms typical
