About

LinkedIn Authority System

When to use

You need to build professional visibility on LinkedIn as a solo consultant or fractional service provider. This is for establishing thought leadership and generating inbound interest, not for direct outbound messaging. Run this system in parallel with lead generation but view it as a compound long-term play (18–24 month ROI curve).

The framework

  1. Optimize for discoverability. Keyword-rich headline, about section, and work experience. Use LinkedIn's native search bar to research the exact terms your ideal clients use. Update your profile with 3–5 high-value keywords in headline, summary, and experience sections.
  2. Publish daily to a cadence. Post once per day for the first 90 days, then settle to 4–5 per week. Daily consistency compounds engagement velocity; sporadic posting wastes the algorithm.
  3. Follow the content category mix. Post personal stories 30%, frameworks/tools 40%, and opinions/takes 30%. Mix creates intimacy (stories), value (frameworks), and perspective (opinions): avoid any one category dominating.
  4. Use the Hook & Hammer structure. Open with a attention-grabbing statement (hook); follow with 2–3 sentences of value or insight (hammer). Short, punchy posts outperform long walls of text on LinkedIn's feed.
  5. Curate topics from your client work. Pick 2–3 repeating themes your ideal clients care about (e.g., "founder burnout," "scaling without hiring," "customer acquisition for SaaS"). Create a rolling topic calendar (2 weeks out) to ensure consistent, relevant coverage.
  6. Repost across owned channels. Pull 1–2 top-performing LinkedIn posts per week to email, newsletter, or personal blog. LinkedIn audience ≠ email audience; cross-seeding amplifies reach without doubling effort.

How to apply it

Your ideal client searches "scaling systems consultant" on LinkedIn. Your headline reads: "Scaling Consultant | Systems-First Leverage | $100k→$250k ARR for Solo & Fractional." That keyword density improves your discoverability for the exact person searching. Your about section contains "systems," "scaling," and "solo founders": increasing match.

You commit to daily posts for 90 days. Week 1: personal story about a client win, a framework on productization, your hot take on why most solopreneurs hire too early. Week 2: repeat. By week 13, the daily rhythm is habit. LinkedIn's algorithm favors consistent accounts; your posts start hitting 500–2,000 impressions per piece instead of 50.

Your content rotation: Monday is a client win story, Wednesday is a systems framework or template, Friday is an opinion post (spicy or contrary view on your niche). This balance keeps your audience engaged without feeling like a robot. You keep a rolling Notion doc of 10 post ideas per category, so you're never scrambling for topics.

When a post hits (1,000+ impressions), you screenshot and email it to your list Tuesday with a note: "This hit on LinkedIn this week. Here's the full text." Email readers click back, follow you, and start seeing your other posts. Your LinkedIn network grows 50–200 followers per month if you maintain cadence and category balance.

Common traps

  • Posting sporadically. One post per week, then nothing for two weeks. LinkedIn's algorithm deprioritizes accounts that go dormant; consistency is the hidden mechanic.
  • Overstuffing with framework posts. 60% frameworks / 40% personal stories kills perceived authenticity. People follow people, not content mills. Vulnerability and personality are the hooks that drive followers.
  • Treating LinkedIn as a CRM. Bombarding new connections with DMs or sales pitches. LinkedIn authority is built on pull, not push: strong content attracts buyers; DMs repel them.
  • Ignoring engagement pods or reciprocal comments. Early posts (first 2 hours) need comments to trigger feed distribution. Comment on 5–10 peer posts daily to build a network that comments back on yours.
  • No call-to-action or email link. Strong posts should close with a gentle ask ("Let me know if this resonates in the comments" or "Link to my newsletter in my profile"). Drive clicks and list growth, not just vanity metrics.
